A Grand Finale to Deaf Awareness Month

Rauch Interpreting Services is pleased to present renowned CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) Comedian Keith Wann of Clearwater, Florida, in recognition of Deaf Awareness Month.

Born with abundant energy and a penchant for mischief, Wann first learned about facial grammar when asked to interpret for his mother in the fourth grade. Upset at the constant interruptions and laughter, Wann’s teacher told his mother that her son was the class clown. Keith turned to his mother and signed, "Teacher says me good boy always!" Looking at the frowning teacher and back at the grinning child, Wann’s mother chose to finish the meeting with pen and paper. Keith had been fired from his first interpreting job.

Known for his hilarious stand-up comedy routines, Wann has been performing for over 20 years. As a hearing child of Deaf adults, Wann is an original breakthrough performing American Sign Language (ASL) artist and has been featured in several short films. He currently stars in a popular ASL Children's book iTunes application, and has been featured in several commercials for Pepsi, appeared on Law and Order, and travels across the country performing almost every weekend.

Wann is one of the most sought after and beloved performers in the ASL community, and has grown into an industry and cultural household name. Combining side splitting humor with heartfelt real life stories from his CODA childhood and teenage life has become his comedic trademark. Respected as an ASL advocate, Keith has reached across the cultural divide between Deaf and Hearing worlds through humor to bridge misconceptions and cultural gaps.

Rauch and Platinum Sponsor InTRAC, provider of Indiana Deaf Relay services, are pleased to present Keith Wann on Friday, September 27, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Jefferson Community & Technical College Auditorium in Louisville. Wann’s performance will be presented in ASL with voice interpretation. Tickets are $15 each & available at www.rauchinterpreting.com through 9/23/13 or at Rauch Interpreting Services, 215 E. Spring St., New Albany, IN. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door the evening of the event.
